Blue Angel Resort

Blue Angel Resort made for exactly the kind of dive trip we wanted. It isn't a polished luxury resort, but it's warm, rustic, and authentic, with incredible people, beautiful views, and a welcoming feel. The place has real heart and personality, and we plan to return. It's an easy, relaxed base for quality diving. The dive crew took care of everything, and the operation felt professional, safe, and welcoming, with reasonable prices. We loved being able to walk straight out to the boat. They also offered later departures, not just very early ones, so heading out around 10 AM made the trip feel much more like a vacation. Our dive master, Ana, gave excellent briefings and helped my newer-diver friend feel comfortable and confident underwater. She was patient, alert, professional, and calm. Every staff member we met was friendly, helpful, and seemed to care about guests having a good time. Eva, the owner, was kind, generous, hands-on, and really the heart of the resort. She made my birthday feel special, and by the end I felt more like a friend than a guest. Carlos at the restaurant kept us laughing and made meals even better. He also offers special island tours and speaks good English, so ask him if you're interested. We loved the room views and having made-to-order breakfast by the water each morning. The restaurant food was great: the avocado smash was my favorite, and the tacos, shrimp tempura, and burgers were all excellent. The resort clearly caters to divers. There are balcony areas for wet gear and purified water stations on each floor for refilling bottles. We also enjoyed the pool, hammocks, and night snorkeling right off the property. Guests were spotting octopus and rays, and I saw two baby rays myself. A few practical things: there are lots of stairs and no elevator, though staff kindly helped with luggage, so I wish I'd packed lighter. My AT&T service barely worked, while my friend's Verizon was much more reliable. Wi-Fi helped. There are only a couple of outlets in the room, so a power strip would be useful. Storage is limited, though there are plenty of hangers, and an extra table and chairs would have helped. There's no hair dryer. The AC worked very well, but we also bought a $20 US fan at the nearby Soriana, basically a Mexican Walmart. Taxis are available and easy to get. A round trip was about 300 pesos, or $20 US, or less. Much of the area is walkable too, including a pleasant 25-minute walk, and we Florida girls didn't mind the heat.

This Caribbean oceanfront resort feels like home, and most of the people I've met there come back, many of them for decades. The staff are wonderful and ready to meet your needs. You can relax in a hammock or enjoy live music and dancing right on the property. There's also a lovely elevated restaurant under a palapa, with spectacular Caribbean views. For divers, the shop is downstairs and the dock is right out front. Leave your balcony slider open at night and you can hear the waves. Then head straight to the boat for amazing dives with professional instructors and dive masters. There's really nowhere else I'd rather stay.

We had such a great time at the blue angel, and the staff were welcoming and so much fun. The dive guides pointed out tiny, hidden marine life we would have missed completely. The restaurant food was amazing, reasonably priced, and served with phenomenal service. Big props to Jared and Diego. Can't wait to go back and dive more at the B.A.D.A.S.S!

We used to eat here several times every time we visited Cozumel because we stay just across the street and it's convenient. After diving, we tried to get off at their dock, but an older woman came out and wouldn't let us. That's it for Blue Angel food from us. They lost hundreds of dollars over us stepping onto their dock. Stupid.
