Hotel Dos Mundos, Isla Cozumel

A great place to stay, and I'd highly recommend it. The rooms were clean and the staff really friendly. Prices were very reasonable, and there are lots of great local food options nearby. It's outside the tourist area, but close enough to get wherever you want without much trouble.

If you're looking to save money while seeing the sights, or spend more on diving like we do, this hotel is great and we'd likely return. It's worth the price, with nice service, and all the staff were extremely helpful. Bianca at the front desk was especially kind and helpful. Thanks for everything, Bianca! Amenities depend on the room. Ours had a double bed, a twin bed, a futon, TV, a fancy table with small chairs that tucked underneath, and a regular padded chair, but no fridge or microwave. The bathroom water flow was slow, possibly because of bad pipes or the city pump. The water felt very soft, though it seems to be like that across the island unless you're at a resort with water filtration. If quiet is a priority, this may not be the place for you. The hotel is at Avienda Juarez and 45 Avienda Sur. Juarez runs across the island from the mid-western end to the mid-eastern end, so it's a busy road. Rooms in the main building along Juarez may be noisy, while the rooms in a building in the middle of the property are quieter. From the building exit, turn left for town and right to head away from it. There's an Oxxo Convenience store about 100 feet to the right of the hotel.

The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service was great. It's basic, with AC, TV, and hot water but no fridge or microwave. That's all you need if you're not cooking on vacation. The location is handy, close to a minimarket, with a pharmacy across the road and restaurants including Casa Mission. The plaza is about a ten-minute walk, depending on your pace.

Even though we arrived late, the staff were still very friendly and helpful. We also learned some Mayan from the receptionist. A cool experience!
