We spent a few days here with friends, and Doña Socorro and her staff were incredibly welcoming. They made sure we had what we needed throughout our stay. There was hot water, wifi, and several rooms had their own bathroom. Plenty of shared spaces were available for getting work done. The hostel is about a 15-minute walk from El Centro, with lots of shops, vendors, and restaurants nearby. The terrace has beautiful views. Doña Socorro also has a clothing shop on the first floor, and everything there is handmade.

Doña Socorro, her family, and the staff made me and my friends feel so welcome. The rooms were cozy, and the terrace floor had beautiful views. There's also an extensive clothing shop on the first floor, plus hot water and solid wifi. The location was great, too. A 10-15 minute walk gets you to hills overlooking town, a lovely spot for sunrise or sunset. Bring treats for the neighborhood dogs. I'd recommend staying here 10/10, and I'll be back. 💓

There were lots of places to sit, eat, or work at the hostel, and the food was amazing if you wanted some. Doña Socorro and her family and staff were super welcoming. The location was great for sunrise and sunset views, and it was convenient for shopping, both on site and a short walk away at local vendors. The first-floor shop is Doña Socorro's work, with so many beautiful designs. Highly recommend, and I'll definitely come back!

We just showed up without booking through an app and stayed for two nights. I completely loved the service from Adrian and his wife, they're so lovely. There are hot showers, nice wifi, an outdoor area with a view, and a kitchen where you can cook meals. Lovely hosts!

Our one-night stop turned into a week as we found more sights and things to do around Mitla. From our room, the view of the Zapoteco Archaeological Site and the iconic three-domed church was breathtaking. We also visited Socorro's son's workshop, where her grandson, Angelo, was carrying on the tradition at a giant weaving loom. At first, Posada Hostal Mitla Backpacker felt more like a welcoming home than a hostel. Socorro and Adrian greeted us warmly and made us feel included right away. For 350 pesos, we had a comfortable room with 2 double beds. The entrance takes you through Socorro's traditional cotton clothes factory, a bit like walking through a living museum of Mitla's famous "Tejido" weaving. Her workshop is a treat to look at and makes you want to learn about the local craft. There are discoveries all over the hostel, including a dining room with a wonderful front-row view of the church and ancient ruins, and a large terrace for relaxing and taking it all in. Posada Hostal Mitla Backpacker is a way into Mitla's culture and beauty, as well as a place to stay. The whole family brings tradition and hospitality together. Highly recommended!
