OYO Hotel Y Restaurante Mitla, Oaxaca

The woman running the place was very nice, and the wifi worked well. Those were the good parts. The place didn't match the pictures and seemed neglected. A large dog barked in the central courtyard all night, so loudly it sounded like it was in my room. I couldn't sleep. There was also an old-looking dead cockroach on the floor when I arrived, and no hot water. Getting in and out was difficult because the door locks from inside, and it was hard to find someone to open it. The woman goes to bed very early, and I wasn't sure where to find her at night. There's no parking on the property, despite Google saying free parking. Maybe that means on the road out front, which didn't feel secure.

We stayed during Villa Mágica de Mitla and slept well. Although it's right in the centre, the rooms face a courtyard and stay quiet. The location is great, the staff are really lovely, and we even had hot water.

The place is basic, but it suited our short stay perfectly. The bed was comfortable and had really warm bedding. The staff were super sweet and even brought us coffee in the morning.

In a great spot for a budget hotel, with staff who were super friendly and helpful. The one hassle was having to ask staff to turn on the water before we could shower.
