Holiday Inn Monterrey Valle by IHG

We had a great six-day stay. The room was roomy enough for our family of 4, and the big closet held all our luggage. The beds were really comfortable, the towels were reasonably clean and a good size, and the staff were welcoming, especially the housekeepers. The bathroom was spacious and worked well, though its vent needs cleaning because it’s full of dust. It might help if housekeeping had a list of which guests are in each room, so people wouldn’t have to call to ask for more bath towels. We had a very pleasant stay.

Today a maintenance worker opened my door without knocking, then went from room to room doing the same. When I reported it, the front desk guy said, “I don't know” when I asked whether that was standard practice. The manager was standing there listening and never stepped in. That makes it seem like the problem comes from the top. Earlier, the desk staff were no help when I asked to split part of my stay onto a business card and the weekend onto my personal card. I guess it’s my own fault for choosing a Holiday Inn.

The rooms are nice and quiet, and the people working here are nice too. But the location feels like an island, with nowhere close to walk for decent food or coffee. The hotel coffee was weak and flavorless, with no morning latte or espresso. Maybe I’m a coffee snob, but it was terrible.

The hotel feels dated and isn’t very clean. Breakfast wasn’t great either, and the towels in my room were stained and dirty.
