City Express by Marriott Querétaro Juríca

Good value for the money, with easy access from the city's Main Street.

The room was dim, with only low light and yellow lighting in the bathroom, so putting on makeup or shaving was impossible. The rooms are small and constantly smell of chemicals. My window looked onto a huge McDonald’s sign, though the blackout curtain meant it was only bothersome during the day.

A cockroach was crawling through the breakfast food, then headed back toward the kitchen. The photo I attached shows it just after it left the food being served. I was pretty repulsed. This was our first stay at this hotel or any City Express. I'm a Bonvoy elite, but the place felt like a motel 6/Super 8. The bed was stiff and we didn't sleep well. Nobody gave us the WiFi password, so I don't know whether there even was wifi. There was no microwave or fridge in the room. We used ice to keep my wife's breast milk cold, but had to ask for a bucket that was locked away. The water pressure was good and the AC worked. Breakfast was a sparse continental spread, with two kinds of melon, eggs, beans, and wannabe chilaquiles. On weekdays, traffic outside is gridlocked around 3-7pm. The staff were super amiable. They helped us with the elevator when our hands were full and had a crib ready on arrival for our three-month-old. Even so, I'd found the Holiday inn and Staybridge Suites down the road more accommodating when I'd stayed at them before.

Breakfast was nice, but the tables were really dirty and nobody came to clean them. A soccer team of kids arrived at 1 in the morning and were extremely loud. I contacted the front desk, but nothing was done. The room smelled like a pet store, and the phone had no cable to call reception. This should NOT be a marriot property at all.
