Hotel Kupuri Sayulita

The terrace with its sea view was breathtaking, and there’s a pool too. The hotel is a one minute walk from the beach, close to restaurants, bars, and shops, with private guest parking out front. I stayed for 10 days and tried different room sizes, which suit individuals, couples, families, or groups. Service and management were pleasant and a 10/10. Rooms are very clean, each has AC and hot water, and towels are changed daily. The terrace would be great for yoga sessions or retreats.

Even though it’s close to the beach, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. My whole family had a terrible experience, and it wasn’t cheap. Rooms were poorly lit and weren’t cleaned despite repeated complaints. There was no hot water in the showers, water from the AC leaked into the closets, and the elevator never worked, among other problems. I’d never go back to that dump.

The hotel exceeded my expectations, and I’d choose it first if we return. Our rooms were clean, the AC worked well, there was hot water, the pool was warm, the staff were friendly, and check-in was quick. The location is unbeatable. They do require a $500 deposit, which isn’t unreasonable, but I wasn’t told in advance and had no cash, so they should mention it beforehand. We knew we were there to enjoy Sayulita’s lively atmosphere. The noise didn’t bother me, and my 2-year-old daughter slept fine. We had no power outages and didn’t ask for cleaning during our couple of nights. The elevator does seem to be out of order, which is a problem on higher floors, especially when you arrive. We visited the weekend after the February long weekend, when there were fewer tourists, and Sayulita itself isn’t exactly a relaxing beach destination.

During my six day stay, the room was cleaned only three times even though I requested daily cleaning. Towels were changed twice, the sheets stayed the same and always had sand in them, and I found a cockroach. A lamp short-circuited, so I unplugged it because I didn’t want to get burned. Staff didn’t resolve anything. I was blocked on Facebook for complaining, but I’m still here in case someone wants to apologize, since this affected three rooms, not just one. They don’t even have cable TV.
