The location is good, but construction seemed to be going on all the time, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear conversations from other rooms. I've stayed in hostels before and can deal with that. All I needed was a working shower. Instead, my room had no hot water and barely any water from the sink. The manager was nice and helpful, but I was told to wait 15 minutes, then the whole night, then until 7 a.m., and finally until noon. I waited 18 hours, spent the day trying to get a shower, and eventually used another room, where the water was still only a trickle. I had planned to stay 10 days, but left after one night and asked for a refund so I could go elsewhere. The owner refused, yelled, “I don’t care, you stayed a night you are paying, we are not charity,” and threatened to call the police. I felt humiliated and mistreated, left shaking, and cried. I love Mexico, but this was the worst experience I've had. If I'd been told the day before that I wouldn't be able to shower, I would have left. They said the shower would work, but it still wasn't working at noon, and I was charged for the night because I stayed and gave them a chance. Had I booked through Booking.com, I believe I would have received a full refund for the missing basic amenity of a working shower. Instead, I felt humiliated. In response to them: the so-called discount was 50 pesos, about two dollars. I paid 600 pesos in cash intending to stay 10 days, while booking online was 653 pesos. I think I should have received a discount or refund since I couldn't shower. Basic customer service means not mistreating a guest, and the owner basically admitted yelling at me. Before leaving, I told the manager's son, who was helping translate, that I was sorry this had happened. I had been patient and waited 18 hours for them to fix the shower, only to be treated badly after giving them a chance. Why tell me it would work if that was just to keep me there overnight?

Clean, basic hotel at a great price and in a perfect location. I'd stay here again! :)

I'm so angry I have to respond to their reply. The owner was disrespectful and made me cry. How can someone running a hospitality business treat guests so rudely and act so entitled? Reading the owner's replies to other reviews, they don't seem very nice either. I paid 600 pesos in cash and planned to stay 10 days. Booking online was 653 pesos, a difference of about two dollars, but they claimed I got a 25% discount. There was no hot water in my room. I waited patiently for 18 hours for them to fix the shower. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes, then an hour, then by 7 a.m. the next day. At noon it still wasn't working. I wouldn't have stayed overnight if I knew their timing wasn't true. I tried to be understanding because things happen and they were trying to fix it, but I gave them all that time and ended up paying for a night of waiting and getting yelled at. The owner thinks it's okay to yell at a guest and claimed I yelled at the manager like crazy first. I didn't yell at her once during those 18 hours. I only got frustrated when she refused to refund me, and I'm sorry I got frustrated. Anyone would be upset in that situation. Maybe Mexico doesn't have the kind of customer service where you get a refund for not getting what you paid for, but as an owner, she could try to make things better instead of worse. I can accept not getting an apology for the inconvenience, but being yelled at as a guest is crazy.

My wife and I stayed last week and had fun. We’re in our 60s, and it was my first time in a hostel. For the price, it was a great deal. It's a hostel, not a Hilton, and the staff were terrific. We got to meet new people, and the lobby kitchen lets you cook your own food, with a huge fridge and freezer in addition to the small one in the room. It's also very close to town and the beach.

The location seemed decent, but the place was quite dark when I arrived and I couldn't reach anyone to book a room. After waiting 30 minutes, I had to leave and look elsewhere. I hope they get better management.
