MBoutique Hotel Sayulita

I booked through AIRBNB well in advance and told the owner I’d be arriving with an assistance dog. When I got there, I was discriminated against and refused entry because they said the dog was too big. At that exact time, Mboutique hotel replied through Airbnb saying they weren’t accepting pets. This place is abusive and acts against human rights and the law. I hold the property and the people working at the Mboutique hotel responsible if there are any reprisals against me for sharing this terrible experience.

It was inexpensive and felt safe enough, with clean rooms, helpful staff, a short walk to town, and a peaceful, relaxing rooftop patio. Parking is limited to three spaces, and I couldn’t see any nearby alternatives. We spent about an hour trying to get the hot tub warm, but it never heated up. The AC in our room leaked the whole time, so we kept a bucket under it from check-in onward. The stairs to the top are pretty intense. For two healthy adults they were manageable, but if climbing stairs is difficult for you, I’d consider another place.

Our room was spacious, clean, and very new, with a fridge and sink, air conditioning, towels, and beach chairs. There was no TV, and the safe in the closet was locked and hadn’t been reset. The patio room was seven flights of stairs up. We booked two nights but left after one because I didn’t feel safe and the place was too far out of the way, across from a bar that didn’t feel tourist friendly. We arrived at 2:30 and didn’t know there was no staff at the facility. You have to call a number to say you’re there, and we waited an hour to get into our room. There was nobody to help or answer questions. After spending most of the day in town, we came back at night to find all the lights off and had to climb seven flights in complete darkness. It was scary and made me even more uneasy. The hotel is about a ten-minute walk from town and the beach, probably the last one on the way out of town. I’d never stay there again.

The room photos online showed something completely different. Our toilet was in the corner behind a two-foot wall, fully exposed to the rest of the room and visible from the bed. There was no room cleaning on weekends, which they hadn’t told us, and in the muggy weather the towels wouldn’t dry. The AC didn’t work at all. It was advertised as a full kitchen, but it was actually one room in a two-bedroom apartment, with strangers renting the other room. The beach is walkable, though the trek was enough that we didn’t want to do it more than once a day. We rented a cart for an extra $65 a day, money we would’ve been better off spending on a place in town. The Wi-Fi was out for days, and we couldn’t get anyone to fix it. There was no phone in the room or apartment, and we had international phones. The “hot tub” was dirty and not warm. I was miserable and strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
