Punta Tokipa

There’s an onsite restaurant open all day, and it’s affordable and convenient. The food, natural juices, and cocktails were delicious and high quality, prepared by the chef, and the bartenders were great. The beach and Club Playa amenities were excellent. Staff on site had great attitudes, knew how to look after people at the beach and pool, and were attentive while still giving you space and privacy. There’s no need to go into town unless you’re after street tacos, boutique shopping, or a night out. I loved this solo vacation and the balance of rest, peace, quiet, comfort, and value. I wish I’d booked two more nights here instead of in Guadalajara to finish my ten-day vacation and spontaneous road trip. I came across this private residential property with rental villas and casitas and found customer service over WhatsApp and email excellent, clear, and prompt. I read the website and messages carefully, so I understood the setup: an eco-resort among nature, animals, and insects, on a cliff with privacy but steep stairs and hills. That was fine, good exercise after a vacation from gyms and exercise. The staff warned me about the stairs and luggage for the villa I chose nearest the sea, so I was prepared. I’ve lived part-time in a subtropical country, so I know people and urban development encroach on nature, rather than insects and animals invading us. The resort had just fumigated Club Playa, and I was told they do that every three months. I didn’t find insect infestations or bothersome insects there. At my casita across the property, I did see ants and insects, birds on the veranda, and pizotes (coatis) coming out at night. We peacefully coexisted. The coatis are more afraid of people and scatter as you walk down the lit stairs. Staff told me to lock the doors and not feed them. As for the sewage smell, this is an eco-resort. I was told it’s related to the birds’ nighttime roosting, and that the smell only reaches the stairs in one area, not the rooms. These few concerns didn’t compare with the value of the place. I’m grateful the owners share their private residential community. I absolutely loved the accessible, inviting, affordable luxury and can’t wait to return with loved ones. I even have an interest in owning here, it suited my vacation style that well. I was glad I chose this rather than staying amid the people and noise in town. On my last morning, I took the shorter walk and climbed over the rocks at low tide to visit Sayulita. There is another listing, Punta Tokipa, with a balance of reviews.

For peace, comfort, tranquility, and ocean views, this beautiful place in Sayulita, Mexico is a must. I highly recommend it.

Tokipa is amazingly beautiful, and the staff were outstanding. Rafael especially was always there if we needed anything. The beach club had what we needed to relax, including cocktails, food, a pool, massages, a gym, and a hot tub. The staff and food were great too. Plan on paying for taxi rides into town or renting a golf cart. The walk to your room can be steep, so be ready for that. But the isolated location and water views are well worth it. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to go again.

The property was in disrepair, with a lot of maintenance left undone, and there was no arrangement for potable water. That hadn’t been mentioned before we arrived. There were many unsafe stairs along a path that smelled of sewage on the way down to unit 1C. We left after the first night and gave up more than $2,900 in advance payment. A local recommended La Puesta, where we ended up staying. Do yourself a big favor and look elsewhere.
