Club de Patos

We were treated like celebrities, and it was an amazing experience. They’d bring us food and drinks wherever we wanted. We were there during Hanal Pixan, and at times I had the whole beach to myself.

The beach is gorgeous, with clear water and a quiet, secluded feel. We were there in late May, and the small hotel felt so private that we hardly saw other guests, even at meals. It felt like we had the place and beach to ourselves. They also have bikes, paddleboards, and snorkeling gear you can use for free, which made it easy to explore at our own pace. The food and drinks cost extra, but they were outstanding. Staff checked on us every 30-60 minutes, so we felt really well looked after. It’s a beautiful hotel with a calm, refined atmosphere. It was pricey, though I felt I could justify the cost. More ceiling fans, especially in the bedrooms and shared areas, would make things more comfortable. This is a great choice if you want quiet and time to unwind from everyday life. If you like a packed schedule or organized activities, it may feel too low-key. I can imagine it being a lot of fun with a bigger group.

The one thing that kept tripping us up was the menu. Several items weren’t available, including coconut water and milk, white wine, tamarind, olives, and french fries. Maybe it was the time of year, but it felt like whenever we ordered, we had to pick something else. Aside from that, the food was outstanding, and the service was attentive and kind. We came to Club de Patos for our honeymoon in mid-May. The grounds and hotel are stunning, and we’re sure it’s the best place to stay in Sisal. We used the complimentary snorkeling gear since the beaches are full of shells, booked a fabulous in-room massage, and went on a flamingo tour that was just as fabulous. It’s a quiet, serene getaway in a beautiful destination full of birds. We’ll be back :)

This was a disastrous experience. I booked two nights online through PriceTravel, then called the hotel to ask about checking in early. They said the room could be ready by 1 pm. An hour later, they contacted me to say the booking had been made in error and there’d been no availability for a month. They were either dishonest or incompetent. Either way, avoid this place at all costs. Now I have to sort out a refund from PriceTravel.
