Hotel Agua Escondida Taxco Centro

Taxco's cobbled streets are easier with shoes that give good support. This beautiful hotel is right in the center, near plenty of restaurants and places to see.

The restaurant was a standout, with really good food, and the pool and big terraces were lovely too. Our charming room was nicely furnished and clean. The hotel spreads across an entire block on several levels, almost like a maze, and sits right at the Zocolo of Taxco. Highly recommend staying here.

We'd stayed here before and liked it, even with the bars nearby playing loud music all night, past 4 a.m. But on our second visit, after my husband booked the most expensive Master Deluxe room for a special occasion, we walked into a mess. Hair was all over the floor and bathtub, there were clumps of hair around the room, and drink marks on every table, with more spots on the floor. We were exhausted and very disappointed. The alternative room they offered was much smaller, had no bathtub, and faced a patio with three big barking dogs, so in the middle of the night we left for another hotel. We won't return. It's such a beautiful hotel, but the cleaning management wasn't decent. At those prices, rooms should be spotless. I've seen cleaner hostels, how does that happen?

The murals are beautiful, and being right in the center is a big plus. A few things could be improved: there's no ceiling fan in the rooms, the toilet seat is cheap, and shower water runs under the door. The Terrace bar's food menu is limited too. It's a nice place, but it could be better.
