Boca de Iguanas Beach Hotel

The camping area felt safe and welcoming, and the beach was clean. We also really enjoyed the food. It’s a great place for a day out with friends. 🌊

We had a good day there with the kids. The hotel at the far end of the beach has a huge pool and serves good food.

The long, soft sandy beach is the standout at Boca, the quieter end of the bay it shares with La Manzanilla. The water near Chantli Mare is a spectacular place to swim, and its restaurant serves food throughout the day. Chantli Mare sits right on the beach; Fridas Villa and Casitas, both listed on air BnB, also have chic accommodation. For a simpler stay, there are small Mexican places such as the Boca Hostel. There’s beachside camping, plus a small, well-stocked shop across the road. Most food stalls are open on weekends, while the Boca Hotel and its large pool are open daily. Boca de Iguanas is peaceful, while La Manzanilla is a lively little tourist town with plenty to do. It’s about a 35-minute bike ride or an hour on foot between them. You can get tuk tuks, taxis, or scooter rentals in LaManz, or arrange one by phone. Check the LaManzanilla message board or Facebook page for more information. One safety point: avoid swimming past the camping ground toward the rocks. That stretch is very unsafe, and there are crosses there.

The beach was lovely for a walk, and the pool was great. We ate at the Coconuts restaurant, though the food only rated a 2 for me. Be careful of the undertow here.
