Finca Santa Rosa

We just stopped for the restaurant and the waterfall viewpoint, we didn’t stay overnight. The path down is a little neglected, though the view from there is lovely.

At night, you can hear the local plants and animals all around you. It’s a good spot to stay if you want to hike down to Texolo waterfall first thing in the morning. The property has an incredible view, though getting there early can take some time. The staff are good, but things need more supervision before they’re handed over. Since the restaurant closes at six, plan to bring your own dinner.

The bungalows are clean, comfortable, and have hot water, with lovely views of the surrounding hills. For families, they’re fully equipped and each has three double beds and one single bed. There’s a pool and a lookout point, plus firewood for a bonfire and a simple breakfast included. You can have ham and eggs or Mexican-style eggs, with coffee grown on the property and local bread. Breakfast isn’t huge, but it’s good value overall. In low season, prices range from 1200 pesos for two people to 2600 pesos for up to six. Finca Santa Rosa also has an incredible view of the Texolo waterfall, and you can hike close to the falls and see native plants and butterflies. The restaurant uses local ingredients, and the food felt like grandma’s cooking, delicious and full of flavor. I recommend the ranchero platter or chicken chileatole with vegetables. Everything was tasty, and the view made the meal even better. A great family place to visit.

The cabins are spotless and well kept, and everything feels comfortable. It’s so peaceful out in nature, with a beautiful view of the mist, insects, and waterfalls. There’s a private path down to the falls. Breakfast is pretty simple, but the tortillas are homemade.
