Hacienda Cantalagua Golf

The service really stood out. Staff were so attentive while we ate, and the grounds were immaculate and beautifully maintained. The rooms are what kept this from being a five-star stay: there were no fans or temperature controls, so ours felt warm and stuffy even though the weather outside was cool. We couldn’t leave the doors open because of all the mosquitoes and flies. It’s worth a visit, but I’d choose a cooler time of year since the heat would be tough.

The friendly, supportive staff and comfortable rooms made the stay pleasant, and the food was nice, with typical Mexican dishes. This restored hacienda near Mexico City has also been expanded with modern rooms and facilities. With tennis, basketball, volleyball, and paddle courts, it seems especially suited to corporate meetings and events. I’m not sure it works as well for a family holiday, since there don’t seem to be suitable facilities for kids.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but the service made me uncomfortable. I had to ask several times to get what I needed, whether at reception, in the restaurant, or from the bell staff. Nobody seemed to respond as quickly as I needed, almost as if they weren’t hearing me.

From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel welcome. The staff were always ready to help, service was excellent, and room service came quickly. The indoor pool stays warm even when it’s cold outside. A great place for a weekend with kids.
