We got home a week ago and are still raving to our friends about Casa Fernanda Hotel Boutique. The restaurant made a big impression. We had lunch and two dinners there, and Chef Anel Hernandez suggested dishes for the four of us to share, explaining the ingredients and cooking methods. They made fresh salsa tableside, plus a separate version without onions for my husband. We loved everything, especially the corn esquites, stuffed squash blossom flowers with mole negro, cecina, roasted chicken breast, and grilled ribeye with pink mole. Breakfast was included and delicious, with fresh pastries. Try the guava roll! Chef Anel Hernandez made the visit extra special. My daughters and I also had hydrotherapy and Swedish massages at the spa, and we all thought they were the best massages we’d ever had. Everyone we met was friendly and quick to help. The grounds are beautiful too, full of greenery and flowers, with statues and lovely decor everywhere.

Every part of this gorgeous hotel, from the grounds and restaurant to the room, felt peaceful and luxurious. It’s one of the most beautiful and thoughtfully designed places I’ve stayed. The staff were friendly, and the smoothies were excellent.

The stay was alright, but I don’t think it justified the price. The bathroom smelled of sewage, and that odor spread through the whole room. Service was okay, nothing more. I was charged 700 pesos to wash just five t-shirts and two pairs of pants, and no one told me the price beforehand. They also wouldn’t take a card. Paying about $50 for that small load felt completely unreasonable and disrespectful, especially since local laundries charge around 20 pesos per kilo. I’d avoid the laundry service. Not worth it.

The rooms are great and private, the cuisine is excellent, and the service is terrific. Easily the best hotel in Tepoztlan. Even if you don’t stay there, go try the restaurant and spa.
