THIEVES. Read every one-star review carefully. We had the same problems others described: poor customer service, crumbling walls, cold showers, and Wi-Fi that only worked properly at reception. They shouldn’t advertise Wi-Fi on their site when it barely works elsewhere. We paid 440 USD for a room and had to watch Netflix outside it because the Wi-Fi was a joke. We were robbed, plain and simple. I’ll report this to the ministry of Tourism because this hotel gives Mexican tourism a terrible reputation. I needed to make a professional video call, so I had to go to reception even though we’d booked a room with a terrace. The call was at 10, and I wanted to check the Wi-Fi beforehand. I grabbed some food quickly, then had to leave the restaurant for the call. At 11.30 I was hungry again, so I asked permission to return and finish the breakfast included in the price. At checkout, they had the nerve to bill me for that late breakfast. It’s not as if I had a choice about taking the call at reception. They said I wouldn’t have to pay, but my friend later told me she’d paid 300 more than the bill. They have no shame about gaslighting people. After reading the comments, I realized they already knew about every issue we raised because other guests had reported them too. I was going to say the hotel was horrible but the staff were helpful. Actually, no, they’re gaslighters. We asked for a discount or refund for the first night, or for a discount if we stayed another night, and they said no. We had to move hotels. Who would spend that much on a place selling an idea of luxury? Now my friend has written to them, and they say they’d do something for a future visit. They couldn’t help while we were there, when we might have stayed a second night, but now that we’re far away they suddenly can. I live seven hours away from Mexico by plane. There are plenty of better options around. Don’t waste your money just to be treated with disrespect. I wonder how they’re still listed on Booking. They don’t issue a checkout invoice. They did win a contest, though. Worst hotel ever for me and my friend, and we’ve both traveled the world.

The SPA is probably the hotel’s strongest point. We tried the “Gruta de los Sentidos” experience and loved it, definitely recommended. The setting also makes for an interesting weekend: the location is good, and you can take in the surrounding mountains in complete quiet. Dinner was good, including the mejillones, pollo con relleno de pistache y costra de aceituna, and Gota de Chocolate for dessert. But the restaurant is quite expensive, and the drinks and breakfast disappointed us. Paying 80 pesos for five hard, dry pieces of bread wasn’t what we had in mind, and the 195 pesos chilaquiles seemed steep for the flavor. The nightly rate also feels a little high for what’s included. The TV has only about eight channels, the Wi-Fi is really bad in the room, the pool is pretty small, and the restaurant isn’t “magic” as you might expect. It’s a good place to enjoy the SPA, though for food you can find better options in Tepoztlán itself.

At 6,000 MXN a night, I expect great service and attention to detail. This place delivered neither. The kitchen was bad, and I could name dozens of faults and mistakes. Management just doesn’t get it. When they take as much money as they can while giving so little value back, that’s a rip off.

I only visited the restaurant, and the food was remarkable. The place is lovely too, with beautiful scenery and a quiet setting that’s great for a weekend away from the city and traffic. A nice spot to read, relax, and catch some sun.

It’s a bad place, and I don’t recommend it. It’s expensive and the service isn’t good. They don’t offer discounts even when there’s no Wi-Fi or AC, or when the rooms are flooded with rainwater.
