Hotel Suites Royal

A decent, inexpensive hotel in a great spot for medical tourists, right by Dreams Hospital. There’s no AC or heating.

We stayed in the standard room for $40 on a Saturday night. It’s definitely an economy motel, so don’t expect extras. Still, the shower was warm, and the king-size mattress on a box spring on the floor was comfortable enough. The room had a small TV, an oscillating fan, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, and two clean towels. The sink water was cold, and the room was freezing, with lots of windows. Anything beyond that is up to you. Checkout is at noon, there’s gated parking, and the lobby sells a few convenience items. Most importantly, we found no bedbugs or cockroaches. It’s in the Cacho area of Tijuana, which I guess is the trendier part of town.

For $35 in Tijuana, I guess you get what you pay for, and the stairs to my room on the fourth floor gave me a workout since there’s no elevator. The water pressure was terrible. There was no ice machine, phone in the room, or AC. They gave me a standing fan, but the ceiling fan was broken. There was only one working outlet in each room, and one of the three rooms was just a table and two chairs with no outlet or fan. The main room’s one accessible outlet didn’t work, and the bathroom outlet had just one connection port and no fan.
