The staff were warm and kind, though communication was difficult since they don't speak English and my Spanish isn't great. My room also had a strip missing from the door, so I didn't feel very safe there. The location is very convenient and the building has authentic charm, but cleanliness and upkeep were a real problem. During my short four-night stay I killed several roaches, and dead ones were still on the floors day after day. The floors weren't cleaned, and my socks and feet got filthy. Toilets weren't cleaned daily either. They often took a long time to flush the used water away, so they stayed dirty. The shower didn't reliably have hot water, and the toilet rarely flushed properly.

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. If you're visiting Tlaquepaque, stay in Centro Guadalajara and take a cab or Uber into town.

The staff made a strong impression on me. They were warm, attentive, and eager to help, and I saw them find a safe place for a family who arrived without a reservation after another hotel had overbooked. They didn't overcharge the family, either, which I thought was amazing. I was looking for somewhere that would remind me of my Mexico querido, and this felt just right. From the lobby murals and detailed textiles to the colorful rooms and rustic wooden furniture, the hotel is full of traditional Mexican character. It felt welcoming and peaceful, a lovely break from the busy freeways in California. Despite all the color, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The price is unbeatable for the experience, comfort, and sense of being connected to my Mexican culture. A fantastic option for authentic Mexican hospitality and an affordable, restful stay. Highly recommend!

I've stayed here three times already and I'm ready for number four. It's clean and affordable, with great service in a beautiful building just a block from the main plaza. When I get up, there's fresh, home-style coffee waiting. Chulada de lugar y servicing! *****

The atmosphere at Hotel Tlaquepaque took my breath away, and I really enjoyed staying here. El Parian is only a few steps away, with food, drinks, and good music. The staff, service, and location were all lovely, and they also offer safe, reliable transportation. This place feels like a real jewel, a piece of heaven. I'd recommend it to anyone, you won't be disappointed.
