Hotel Santo Santiago

Service is the best part here, excellent. It's a beautiful boutique hotel, close to shopping, food, and just about anything you'd want in Tonala or Guadalajara. I'd highly recommend staying here in Tonala or nearby.

The staff and Owner were warm and helpful, and the hotel is central with secure parking if you're driving into Tonala. We heard no noise at all, though the hotel was nearly empty. My wife and I recently found this gem in a characterful old building, and had a fabulous stay. Can't recommend Santo Santiago enough.

A very clean little hidden gem, and a nice change from the usual chain hotels. Everything feels new and works, since it was built recently. The area isn't the greatest, so I think you'd want to be back by dark. One woman working there was rude to me, but everyone else was delightful. I'd especially recommend it for solo travelers or couples, probably less so for families with kids.

There were so many stairs to my room that getting up there felt like a hike. It's a few blocks from the tianguis, and the location is okay. Across the street is a little restaurant that's also a nursery and home. The pizza was possibly the best I've had, second only to Naples, and I'll add a photo. My room was efficient, but the bathroom was tiny. Between dogs barking across the street and a rooster crowing all night, I couldn't sleep. The rooster seemed to mistake the streetlight for sunrise.
