Casa Grande Hotel Tulum

The room had everything we needed, including good fans, AC, and a nice shower. Ours was a little dark and minimal, though we were on the ground floor, so maybe the upstairs rooms get more light. A few extra touches could make it cozier, but the place is so beautiful we barely wanted to stay inside. The pool area at the back feels peaceful even though the location is fantastic. There are cute pets around, a great space for yoga, and the whole place has an amazing, carefully considered design. It’s family run, welcoming, and the service and food were great.

The rooms feel fresh and are kept clean and tidy. Mine was almost like a little apartment, with a kitchenette and a curtained-off spot where you could meditate. The hotel is near restaurants and La Valeta Market, so music from nearby places sometimes carries over. I liked that reminder of how lively Tulum is, and it was easy to head out for food or nightlife. Sonido’s own restaurant serves Italian and Mexican dishes, plus healthy options and indulgent treats. The smoothies are especially good. The palapas above the restaurant and at the back are lovely, calm, and clean, and they offer a variety of classes. I was too busy with my training course to join one, but the yoga looked great and I’d love to try it if I return. I stayed at Sonido Del Mar while taking a course with Studio Retreats, and had a lovely time. Giordana and her family were so warm and attentive, always ready to help, and they went well beyond what I expected. When Tulum briefly went into lockdown, they made us feel safe and looked after. I also got sick during my stay, and they arranged special food and other things to help me feel better. I really hope I can come back soon. It has everything I could need.

The hotel is right in the heart of La Veleta, and the staff were so friendly and ready to help, whether with suggestions for places to see or arranging transfers. I loved the food, the yoga classes, how clean everything was, and the positive feel throughout the place. Highly recommend it.

We stayed two nights and found it a great value. The restaurant was being renovated, so it wasn’t operating and I can’t comment on the food. The two women at reception were wonderful, helping us find nearby restaurants and coffee shops. Most helpful of all, they arranged a taxi when we checked out and agreed on a fixed fare for our next destination. If you’ve looked into Tulum taxis, you’ll know why that mattered. We’d consider staying here again.
