Delek Tulum

The nearby club was our one real challenge. On the first night, the bass seemed amplified in our room, and we couldn’t sleep until the music stopped around 1am. Earplugs and a white noise machine didn’t help. The next night we moved the speaker Delek provided closer to the bed and played brown noise, which we looked up and found blocks bass better. After that, the music disappeared and we slept like babies. We’d read about the noise beforehand, and I’d been worried it would ruin the trip because my wife and I badly needed sleep away from the kids. The rest of our stay was peaceful and lovely. We booked a partial ocean view room, and it was even better than the pictures, comfortable and breathtaking. The attentive staff were always a quick WhatsApp message away. The hotel is small enough that it sometimes felt like there were more staff than guests, and the decor was just right. Around sunset, public access closes for non-guests, so in the evenings it felt like we had one of the world’s most beautiful beaches to ourselves. Each morning brought complimentary coffee and sunshine over sparkling water, and we spent the days visiting cenotes and relaxing on the beach. Thanks, Delek Tulum, for such a wonderful stay.

The afternoons can get busier because the beach is publicly accessible, but Delek guests are looked after first. When a woman who wasn’t staying there claimed the bean bag I was using, the manager saw what happened and immediately brought me another one. The staff really go above and beyond, and that made the stay memorable. Eduardo, Manual and Ricardo took great care of us on the beach each day. We loved the natural feel of the cabanas, a lovely mix of jungle and beach, and chose Delek because we didn’t want a modern resort or all-inclusive. The office staff and beach and restaurant teams were all accommodating. Our room had filtered water topped up daily, which we had no problem drinking. Complimentary coffee and pastries arrived on time at 8 am each morning, with 9:30 available for later risers. A WhatsApp message brought beach towels or a bucket of ice to the room within minutes. The beach food and drinks were delicious, but expensive, and the cost adds up quickly. We’ll definitely come back. Thank you, Delek Tulum!

The sunrise from our ocean-front suite was like a screensaver, and the whole stay made it easy to unplug and enjoy the beach. We were welcomed with drinks, then got a full tour of the property before heading to our villa. The suite came with filtered water and bottled water, beach towels and a beach bag. There was even a bowl of clean water at the entrance to rinse our feet. Coffee and pastries were complimentary each morning, and hotel guests had reserved daybeds at the beach club included with the stay. Bars, restaurants and shops along the beach were within walking distance, which helped us avoid spending much on taxis. The hotel also arranged rides whenever we wanted to explore the city. My now-fiancée coordinated our proposal at the start of the trip, and everything went smoothly. Huge thanks to Paola and Catalina (Cat) for making it so special. We’ll be back every year!

We picked Delek Tulum for our second wedding anniversary and are so glad we did. The room was beautiful, and every staff member we met across reception, the restaurant and beach club gave incredible service. A 10/10 stay, we had a great time.
