Esmeralda Boutique Hotel & Residences

I’ve lived and worked in tulum for over 7 years, and I’ve known this property since it opened. Andres and his staff were honestly the kindest people I’ve come across in tulum hospitality. The rooms are beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained, and the place feels safe and secure. It also looks amazing in photos. The location is right in the middle of town, which makes it a great base for exploring all tulum has to offer. I’d absolutely stay here again and definitely recommend it. 10/10!

We checked out and the room was inspected to see if anything was missing. The receptionists then said a glass was gone. We hadn’t taken it, but they accused us of lying and charged us 90 pesos. I’ve never experienced anything like that, so check your glasses before leaving. The boutique hotel is nicely decorated, with spacious rooms and everything you need. The front desk was helpful and quick to respond, and the location was decent, though I think there are better areas in Tulum. In my opinion, the minibar prices were heavily inflated. The living-room furniture looked nice but was so uncomfortable we didn’t use it. The rooms also don’t have decent windows, so you hear everything going on outside, even though the hotel isn’t on the main street.

We booked room 10, the penthouse with a pool, for two nights and loved it. The pool was the main reason we chose it, and we’d come back after a long day to cool off in the cold water. Nobody bothered us while we were there. The hotel is a short walk from the main nightlife, but tucked away from it. We walked everywhere, with plenty of food options nearby. We like staying near locals for the street food. Bikes are easy to rent anywhere, and the hotel has them too. The decor and aesthetics were beautiful, which I’m sure is why lots of people book here. The AC gets going quickly, and you can open the windows fully for a nice breeze. We’re pretty simple people and don’t have much to complain about.

The staff helped us throughout the stay and arranged whatever we needed, even late-night food at 1am. Thanks to Gonzalo and Rosa Maria! Staying in town made it easy to bike to the beach and try the delicious, affordable food nearby. Esmeralda Boutique Hotel was the best hotel stay I’ve ever had. The design details were impeccable, with plenty of outlets, a wonderfully comfortable mattress, warm lighting, signature bath products, and a thoughtfully chosen minibar. We loved the pool too. It was an unforgettable trip, made even better by this lovely stay.
