Green Tulum Hotel

The hut was roomy and had a terrace, and the beds were super comfortable. The place feels a little outdated, like it might have been the place to stay once but isn’t anymore. Still, I really enjoyed the quiet and the jungle-like setting. It’s close to the center but far enough away to avoid all the noise. The family looking after the place was so welcoming and happy to help with anything. Gracias!

I’ve stayed here every year on vacation and have never had a problem. They even let me have a particular room once when I hadn’t made a reservation, though they do recommend booking. The rooms are basic and palapa-style, with a private bathroom and shower, a covered deck, and a hammock. There’s a very clean pool, plus an on-site bar and full restaurant. It’s outside the inner city, so there’s less noise. Love this place!

The room smelled awful, and there were gaps mosquitoes could get through. When I pointed this out to the receptionist, he replied, “They’re in their environment.” I was shocked they hadn’t even tried to keep mosquitoes out of the rooms. The pool was dirty, and there wasn’t a sheet between the mattress cover and the smelly blanket on top. It was only one night, but I couldn’t wait to leave.

We arrived around 4 p.m. and were told the room wasn’t ready because there had been a lot of checkouts. The woman in charge said we could wait another hour or call for a refund. She insisted people did that all the time and that it was fine, so I took her word for it. Tired and hungry, we left and booked another hotel. After checking in there, I called the third-party app to arrange the cancellation. Long story short, they never refunded me. A rip-off.
