Hotel Bakal Tulum Downtown

The elevator was broken throughout the month I lived there, and the walls were so thin I could hear my neighbors talking. There was also a horrible smell in the bathroom all the time, apparently because the hotel's plumbing system isn't good. EMMANUEL TERRON ORNELAS, the property manager who rented me the apartment, still hasn't returned my 10k pesos deposit after four weeks, even though he told me several times he would. He cancelled on me many times and always had an excuse for not paying it back yet, saying he would return it soon. Now he's completely stopped replying. A highly unprofessional and disappointing experience.

The apartment was good value and in a handy location, not far from the center and close to the main supermarket. But several facilities had issues while I was there: renovation work in apartments sometimes made extra noise, the elevator and laundry were out of service, and there were ants on the balcony.

We woke up to gorgeous beach views and the sound of the waves, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Our room was spacious, clean, and decorated in a rustic-chic style that suited the Tulum vibe. The grounds were well kept, with lush gardens, a lovely pool, and direct access to a private stretch of beach. We also enjoyed the fresh, delicious food at the on-site restaurant, beautifully presented. The peaceful atmosphere made it easy to relax and feel connected to nature. From arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The staff were attentive and friendly, helping with activities and local suggestions and checking that we were comfortable. We had a very, very nice stay at Bakal Tulum. It was a peaceful, unforgettable escape, and we can't recommend it enough. We'd happily come back.

We arrived to find we'd been upgraded from a regular room to a full apartment. The concierge was always super helpful, and the hotel was beautiful, with nice rooms and great service. Highly recommend! :)
