Hotel Iker

We made good use of the burner, pan, and dishes they provided in our large room, which was a nice surprise. The bikes were sturdy and worked well for getting around town. We even rode them to the Tulum ruins, and locks were included. It was a quiet place with fair prices, good Wi-Fi, and lovely staff. We stayed three nights and really enjoyed it. The host and staff were friendly and helpful.

The neighborhood is fairly poor but seemed safe to us. We have young children and walked through it, and there’s also a nice playground about four blocks south. The rooms were simple, as expected for the price, and the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Just know it’s about a 20-minute walk to the centro. You could ask for a bike, which I think they lend or rent, or take a taxi or colectivo.

A little out of the way, but tucked into a real community of people who call Tulum home. It felt authentic and safe, and Central Tulum was only a $2.00 cab ride away.

The rooms are pretty basic and dated. Algae is growing in the pool, so I definitely wouldn’t swim in it.
