Lagoon Boutique Hotel Tulum

I felt uneasy and unsafe right from the start. At check-in, the receptionist acted strangely and didn't ask for my passport, ID, or any details. The room was dirty and had ants, including dead ones. I went out to dinner, and when I returned the ants had disappeared even though nobody had cleaned, which made me very uncomfortable. I felt sick and unsafe enough to leave in the middle of the night and sleep in my car. The hotel was dirty and scary. I don't recommend it at all.

The place has a stunning design and could be so nice with a little maintenance. Check-in was fine, the bedding at least seemed clean, and both the AC and shower worked, but much of the hotel felt run down. The pictures look amazing, as if they were taken when it first opened, but it doesn't seem maintained now. The rooms are worn, faucets corroded, floors dirty, and dead bugs were all over. The pools looked like they were never cleaned, full of dirt and bird droppings. The rooftop pool seemed clean, but dirt had settled on the floor and showed when you walked around.

The place doesn’t look much like the pictures, and it’s clearly short on upkeep. It could be a good spot, but it needs more regular, thorough cleaning, especially around the pool, balconies, and open areas. The pool wasn’t usable, and the balcony needed cleaning too. The workers are trying hard, but there need to be more of them to keep a place like this running properly. It’s a pity to see it run down. I hope the owner takes the feedback seriously and makes some changes.

I’m a solo traveler and have been around the world, but I feel at home here. It’s peaceful, the WiFi is excellent, and the rooftop pool is lovely. I also like having a king-size bed, a little stove, and a fridge. There’s always an attendant in the building, and they’re really helpful. I’ve even extended my stay. I appreciate having a few good neighbors around, too. So far, so good! 🙏🏻🥂
