OYO Hotel Palma Real

The smell in the room was awful, there were bugs everywhere, and dog pee and poop covered the common areas and lobby, including the spot right outside our door. We had no blankets and were cold through the night. There was no hot water, and only three pillows for four of us. Staff took 5-10 minutes to show up at the desk, then gave us conflicting stories and kept sending us around in circles. We paid for two nights but left after the first and lost the money for the second, because the place felt uninhabitable and we had to find somewhere else. The exterior photos shown here on Google also appear to be of a different place. Worst stay I’ve had in ages.

We left after just one night and moved to a different hotel. The bedding had blood stains, and there were cockroaches in the room. Reception did nothing to fix it. The photos make the place look okay, but in person it looks terrible. I don’t recommend it, and the owners seem like scammers.

We checked out as fast as we could and went next door to Aldea Balam, which was a way better stay. The night receptionist was rude when we said we weren’t staying, and still made us pay $600 pesos. When we arrived at 1:30pm, the lobby was closed, and the person who eventually showed up didn’t even know we had a reservation. The hotel looked run down. In our room, the towels were stained and had a dried worm on them, there was dust on the beds, no toilet seat, and a cockroach in the shower window. I really wouldn’t recommend this place.

Lunch here was a great surprise. The Mexican classics were simple, tasty, and cooked just right. We ate comfortably, the service was quick, and Saul was a great waiter.
