Turquoise Tulum Hotel

The decor and shared spaces are attractive, and we were grateful to get a late checkout. The young man on staff works hard and seems to cover everything, from breakfast and pool duties to construction work on treatment rooms. He was often the only employee around. The owner needs more staff, a real reception, dependable breakfast hours, and the advertised bikes should actually be available. We expected free bikes from the booking listing, but they were no longer offered, so renting them locally cost us £60 for four days. A bike, car, or scooter is really needed for the beaches, ruins, cenotes, and much of town. There was loud music from the empty bar across the road every night, once until 2 a.m. The hotel may not control it, but it was frustrating. Twice we came back to the shared seating area in complete darkness and had to hunt for the lights. Our room was clean, spacious enough, and had a comfortable big bed, safe, and fridge. It was cleaned daily, but we had no hot water for three days, and there was nobody around to tell when we got back. Tea, coffee, and hot and cold water were available at all hours. The shared kitchenette was useful, though not always clean. Breakfast was meant to run from 8:30 to noon, but on two mornings it wasn’t ready until 9 or 9:30. It was simple: bread, jam, cereal, yogurt, milk, and fruit. Most cereal was very sugary, with just one granola option. There was no vegan milk, despite our advance notice, so we bought our own. At mid-afternoon, near check-in, the front door was locked and required a code we hadn’t been given. Someone let us in after about five minutes. That felt strange for a hotel, and there are no staff visible in the evening. There’s a lot of potential here, but our stay was a mixed bag.

We had a lovely stay and would happily recommend the hotel. Our room was spacious and clean, with a big bathroom and a nice balcony. The whole place feels tidy and welcoming, with plenty of room to unwind by one of the pools. Restaurants, bars, and bike rentals are all within walking distance. We booked on a friend’s recommendation, and the owner was quick to reply and very helpful.

The hotel has gorgeous decor and a laid-back feel, and the location worked perfectly for us. Staff were warm and helpful. We did run into early issues with hot water and our rooms not being ready, but everyone made an effort to sort them out. Deigo did his best to answer our many questions and offer suggestions. We’d gladly come back and recommend it.

The atmosphere made it easy to settle in, and the service kept everything running smoothly throughout my stay. The property is beautiful and clearly well cared for, with thoughtful details in every corner. I had a great experience from beginning to end and would gladly return. Highly recommend.
