City Express Junior by Marriott Tuxtla Gutiérrez Poliforum

I've stayed with city junior for years and the service has always been good. The rooms are small, but they work for what I need. My one gripe is the coffee: even though it's available around the clock, there's no creamer. When I asked at the front desk, they said I had to wait until 6 am because it was locked up. That's the thing that gets to me.

We were still without hot water the next morning. My husband called the front desk, and after waiting a while I called too. The man who answered said maintenance wouldn't be in until 0900, though it was only 0700. This was our second terrible experience with CEJ. The first time, they charged us for two rooms and wouldn't refund one. Now this. We arrived from Nayarit on Aug. 1st, and my husband had paid for a room so we could spend the night in Tuxtla. There was no hot water. When I called, the woman told me to check that I had the faucet turned the right way. I assured her I had, with red for hot and blue for cold. She said she'd send someone up. I said no, but she sent him anyway. Since it was past 1100 pm and my husband was asleep, I didn't let the man in. He said he would check the boiler, but neither he nor the front desk ever got back to me. As we left on the morning of Aug. 2, a couple was checking in. I told them in Spanish that they should think twice, because there was no hot water and the hotel didn't seem to care about fixing it. A place that prides itself on service and the best price should make customers its top priority. Unless this is made right, we won't be back, and we'll leave CEJ bad reviews. Thank you.

The rooms were quite spacious and the location was good. We did have to wait while our room was being cleaned, though the service was good. Breakfast came with the stay, but there wasn't much variety and the food didn't taste very good.

Handy for getting to the airport, since the hotel is out on the edge of town. The rooms are clean and basic, though a little small. A good place for a quick city stop.
