Ecotel Quinta Regia

The garden is lovely, with lots of colorful plants, and the staff were friendly. The hotel itself feels old and could use renovation. My room was okay, but the air conditioning was very loud. Staff spoke only a little English.

We’d happily consider staying here again. The hotel is clean, and the staff were remarkably patient and kind with our children, from the reception team to housekeeping, waiters, and cooks. The reception staff also had useful information about nearby attractions. Not everyone spoke much English or other languages, though several staff members did. Margarito, the waiter captain, speaks French, English, Mayan, and a little Italian as well as Spanish. A little Spanish helped us get past the language barrier, and I enjoyed hearing my children try speaking broken Spanish or English. The pool was a pleasant place to cool down. Watch out for the slippery floor by the palapa in front of the pool bathrooms, as well as the area in front of the pool and bathrooms. The rooms kept outside noise out well, and the parking lot is large. For families with children under 12, the hotel has the services they need, though some things could be improved. The centre is about a 10-minute walk away, and driving takes even less time. You might find a space on the street near the park and cathedral where there’s no yellow line, but it isn’t guaranteed. There are also plenty of parking lots downtown. I think walking is the better option.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and our room was very clean. The walk to the city centre took around 15 minutes, so a more central location would have made the stay even nicer.

It was quiet, and the restaurant was okay, but the hotel feels past its best. The centre is a decent 15-minute walk away. A few staff members spoke some English. The rooms are spacious, though the furniture and layout aren't very practical. There was no fridge and there were few drawers. The shower was huge, with barely any space for shower gel. Worst for me was the rock-hard mattress. I couldn't sleep well, and when I asked to change it, I was told there was only that one standard firmness. It was okay overall, but that's about it.
