Hotel Refugio 41

The breakfast was fine, and we liked that everyone sat at one long table, which made it easy to talk. Staff were generally pleasant, and we got helpful information when we arrived. There was nearly constant barking from a dog at a neighboring property, which the hotel can’t control. Our room felt quite bare and was cold; they did bring extra blankets when we asked. The water was only warm, not properly hot, which was especially unpleasant in a cold room. The location was okay, though it’s quite a walk to the center. An okay stay, and a few tweaks could make it better.

The people working here really made the stay for me. Everyone was kind, helpful, and friendly, and the personal attention made Hotel Refugio 41 feel like it was run with care. It was a peaceful place to come back to after exploring cenotes or walking Valladolid’s colorful streets, with greenery around the outdoor pool. My room was spacious, nicely decorated, and comfortable, with what I needed to relax. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming from the start. If you want comfort, charm, and thoughtful hospitality, I’d recommend Hotel Refugio 41. I’d happily stay again.

The receptionist shared lots of useful tips about the city, and breakfast was very good and healthy, even though it was the same each day. We stayed four nights and had a really pleasant visit. The room was clean and beautiful, with a cute balcony, and the whole hotel had a modern, relaxing feel.

The only part I thought was okay was the pool. The outdoor areas otherwise looked abandoned, and for the price this place fell far short of what I expected. We got a cold welcome and no information. The room was very basic and dark, with no bedside lamp and a curtain that didn’t cover the whole window, so daylight can wake you early. There were lots of insects at night, the towels were very thin, and they provided just one small bottle of water. Breakfast didn’t taste good either, and there were plenty of other problems. Valladolid has many better options, and cheaper ones too.
