The showers only had cold water, and the kitchenette wasn't much better: every utensil felt sticky and tasted strongly of toothpaste, even after we tried everything we could to clean them. Roosters at the small chicken farm next door started fighting from 6 a.m., too. Then there was the payment. We reserved in our local currency, but were given a terrible exchange rate when paying in pesos, which worked out to about 15% more than the prices shown here. We tried to discuss it for 15 minutes and got a string of “I don't know” answers, along with explanations that the manager was on holiday in his home country and the employee had only started the week before. In the end, we paid. Good luck.

The room was clean and okay, and the hotel is just off the main road, within walking distance of everything. Parking is free, though you have to renew the ticket each day. Coffee and tea are also free, but there isn't breakfast. The toilet never worked properly, even after we called staff three times to fix it. The air conditioning wasn't great either, and at first there was a fine mist you could see. Those two problems were dealbreakers. The staff were very friendly at first, which is why I'm giving two stars. For this price, I could get a five-star place in Thailand. If it had cost only $20, I might have let the issues go, but it wasn't worth the money.

Beautiful garden with hammocks, and the hostel was clean, quiet, and had great facilities. Axel's tips and recommendations helped me feel so welcome. One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Highly recommend!

I came away with at least 200 bedbug bites all over my body. My throat began swelling from an allergic reaction the day after checkout, and new welts kept appearing for days, more than I could count. Bedbug reactions can take hours or even several days to show up. When I found the infestation, I still had one night left, but couldn't stay. They refused to refund it, saying they didn't know about the bugs and fumigate every day. They also suggested other guests or even I might have brought them in. When I raised the issue, staff tried to avoid responsibility and asked why I hadn't told them on the first day. The Google reviews make it look like bedbugs have been a recurring issue for months, yet they keep checking in new guests. I guess I should have read those reviews before booking.

We booked our stay ten months in advance, then the hotel cancelled through Booking.com just four hours before check-in, saying they were full and had tried to call us. They hadn't called. The only messages we'd had with the hotel were ones we started ourselves. In fact, their WhatsApp replied just yesterday with details about parking at the hotel and what to do. Really poor service. I can't recommend it.
