Hotel María de la Luz

The location is perfect, the staff are friendly, and the bar has been upgraded. I stayed here about 15 years ago, and the rooms still felt the same. They could use some updating.

The location is 11/10, and the front desk staff were always polite and helpful. The rooms are a little dated, but they were fine for the price. If you want luxury, pay more somewhere else. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, so I can’t comment on it. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the AC had a strange vibration, and I had to smack it a couple of times to stop it. I’d definitely stay here again.

The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere made the meal even more enjoyable. My medium steak was juicy, tender, and full of flavor, clearly showing the chef’s skill. I finished with a marvellous dessert, a lovely end to the evening with rich flavors and just the right amount of sweetness. I highly recommend Maria de la Luz for a top-notch meal. Five stars without hesitation!

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the location is the best, but the rooms are awful and run-down. I could hear everything from the street because there’s no sound insulation. The curtains were broken and dirty, and the very old bed linen was worn out and marked yellow. The shower was old, with weak pressure, and sometimes the hot or cold water didn’t work. We got just one small, worn-out towel per person and no foot towel, leaving the bathroom floor slippery when wet. I had to ask for extra toilet paper because the cheap roll ran out in one night, though we stayed three nights. There was no toilet brush. The rooms were very old, dirty, and poorly maintained. The terrace with views isn’t part of the hotel. It belongs to a restaurant you can visit if you have dinner there, and drinks alone aren’t allowed.
