La Casa Rodavento - Adults Only

We were in upstairs room 6 for three nights. It was lovely, with a huge, luxurious bathroom, the best shower, and a very comfortable bed. Nights were quiet, and the staff were always helpful. We don't speak Spanish, but everyone tried to communicate with us and we managed just fine. The restaurant was perfect too. This place feels like a tucked-away luxury oasis.

The food was tasty and good quality, and we enjoyed sitting in the pleasant breakfast room each morning. Service was friendly, the laundry was great, and everyone at the hotel was helpful. We stayed for a summer week in a room with a balcony so we could work, and the quiet was surprising for somewhere right downtown. Restaurants were easy to reach on foot, and we liked the beautiful room, shared spaces, and cute colonial house. We got up early for walks and hikes, and by the end I was dreaming about moving to Valle and working remotely. We really hope to come back.

We stayed two nights at Casa Rodavento before visiting the butterfly reserve, about two hours away. The hotel arranged a driver and helped us change the next day's schedule at the last minute. They were also flexible about serving us breakfast early. The bar was nice, and we enjoyed the heated pool and upstairs hot tub. I only met one staff member who spoke English during our stay. Someone in our group knew a little Spanish, which was a lifesaver for getting details like breakfast information. For a hotel of this caliber, I would expect staff to have at least some basic English.

The desserts were a great finish: freshly made churros and a parfait-style creation went beautifully with the meal. The parfait kept revealing surprising layers right to the end, and I won't spoil them. Everything was delicious without feeling over the top. Casa Rodavento Restaurant was easily our best meal in town. The food is carefully made, the service is just as good, and the cocktails are so well balanced I wouldn't change a thing. Six stars from me, absolutely recommended.
