Hotel Báez Carrizal

The old-fashioned Mexican architecture is beautiful, and the room and front desk staff were amazing. But the toilet barely worked and the water pressure was low. It was loud all night, with a party-hotel feel, and the kitchen wasn't good. There's no fridge, and they charge for ice.

It's a safe, inexpensive place on the main road, with air conditioning in every room, decent Wi-Fi and mostly friendly staff. Room assignments were a gamble for us: on one visit the first room smelled like garbage, the second did too, and the third was fine. On my second visit, the first room was fine. They ran out of ice, and with no fridges in the rooms, some of my food spoiled. As someone from Canada, I'm used to having ice and coffee cream close at hand, and to higher hotel standards, which is why I gave it only two stars.

The rooms were just okay, and could have been cleaner. The view wasn't anything special either. Still, for the price, it's a good place to stay. The lobby is beautiful and lively, and the restaurant inside serves absolutely delicious food.

A handy place to stop while on the road. Breakfast is included for a fair price, and there's a restaurant and bar on site. The rooms were clean, and the private parking lot felt secure for our car.
