The room was a bit small, but fine if you don't plan to spend much time in it, and it suited the price. Xalapa is a lovely city to explore, and the hotel is central, very cheap, comfortable, and has a fantastic shower. I also loved the traditional decor in reception. It's very clean, and housekeeping was great. We could have used more water in the room, though, and noisy guests coming back at 5 a.m. woke us up. Staff should have asked them to keep it down; the noise carried on for a while. We'd definitely come back.

There's no A/C that I could see, so keep that in mind if you're visiting in summer. This is a very inexpensive place, and the finishes show it, but I still had a really pleasant stay. The traditional Mexican decor has lots of detail, and the whole hotel feels cozy.

The location and price were the best parts. I had hot water, parking was hassle-free, and I wasn't mistreated or treated badly. Still, the room needs serious upkeep. It was damp and cold, with no sunlight at all, and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. The mattress was harder than my ex's heart. We found bugs in the lamp and got bitten, and the lampshade was damaged. They supplied only a tiny soap bar and a little bottle of water. Although I booked for two people, I had to ask for another towel, which they did give me.
