Cuartel 1914 - Hotel Boutique

Step outside and you’re surrounded by the beautiful historic district, with lots of restaurants, cafes, and people around. The rooms are as advertised, historic with a touch of class, and the woodwork on the doors looks original. It has a Motel 6 feel, but much better. The place is beautifully kept and clean, and felt safe, with no transients. I liked that it hasn’t been westernized or modernized. The front door has a high-security entry system, and I figured it out on my first try.

The location made my six-day work trip easy. Cuartel 1914 is one block from Catedral Basílica de Zacatecas, with great restaurants seconds away, including La Toska, Waffles & Coffee, En Tauro Del Norte, Bona Dona, and others. Circle K and Axxo are also just seconds away for water or soda. I booked a balcony room facing the main street. It was large and clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the amenities were nice. The Wi-Fi worked well in the room, so I could work there, and I also liked working in the indoor patio by the router. Work video calls went smoothly without any issues. The staff helped me sort out questions about Covid tests, currency exchange, and a 5:30 AM airport ride. They also helped book tours to La Quemada and Conos De Santa Mónica. The keyless front door lock meant I didn’t need to worry about losing keys, and communicating on WhatsApp was convenient. It felt like home away from home. Thanks for a great week!

Cuartel 1914 was an interesting surprise, somewhere between an Airbnb and a regular hotel, with one of the best locations to stay. Its self-service entrance and traditional colonial feel made for a great experience. The staff were wonderful, and Fabiola was always charming and quick to answer questions or help sort things out. The mix of digital tools and a colonial setting works really well.

The location is central and great. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I recommend it if you want to stay somewhere central.
