We booked through the hotel's website for five nights in September 2025 and got a better rate than elsewhere. The rooms were good, the location was very convenient, and the price was reasonable. We'd come back.

The building's architecture is phenomenal, dating back to 1770, and staying there feels like stepping back in time. It's right in the center of the historical district in zacatecas, so everything is accessible on foot. The rooms are cozy and nice, and the service is great. Breakfast was delicious, with a buffet on Sundays. You'll definitely enjoy your stay.

This was a place I had wanted to try for a long time. We visit Zacatecas at least twice a year and like to test different hotels so we can recommend a good one when friends or family come along. Sadly, this won't be the one we suggest, and we won't return. The building is a gem and we were in awe of how beautiful it is. The two gentlemen at the front office were very kind when we checked in, and the staff were great on day one. There is no elevator, but that was fine with us. The room, though, could use some updating. The walls look like 1990s hotel rooms, the bedding seems from the early 90s, and there are no USB ports. The bathroom has an old phone with its cables. We tried to watch TV but the remote was the wrong one, so we called for help. There's no iron in the room either. You have to call for one and sign it out. For a one-night stay, none of that was horrible. The next day, the woman who answered at the front desk was very rude. We asked if we could leave our vehicle in the garage until checkout since parking in Zacatecas is challenging. She said no. We've stayed at many hotels in Zac and they usually allow it. Daniela wasn't apologetic or empathetic. We said we'd check out and asked if someone could help with our bags because of the stairs, but she said nobody was available. At checkout, we got no greeting, no good morning, no offer to help, and no eye contact. A man came from the back to ask if we were checking out, and we felt like we were being treated as if we were bums off the street. One person's attitude changed the whole experience. Zacatecas is beautiful and full of kind, friendly people, but that wasn't our experience here. I hope Daniela reads this and thinks about her expression and attitude. Everyone else was nice.

The room was cleaned and neatly organized every day, and the hotel is a good choice if you want somewhere quiet and clean near downtown. I stayed at el Jobito for about two weeks. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is the old AC unit, which wouldn't turn on or off properly. We spent one night without full AC, but the front staff gave us a fan to get through it, and maintenance fixed the unit the next day. And if you've heard the ghost stories about this hotel, I believe them. Sometimes I found the room chandelier moving and the bathroom door closing on its own. So I'd recommend it, as long as you don't mind the occasional spook.

It stays very quiet even though it's right beside the plaza garden, and it's family and kid friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean. We'd definitely return, though next time we'd ask for a softer bed 😊.
