Áurea Hotel & Suites

We booked the nicest room available at Hotel Aurea Suites, but it was barely functional. The bathroom flooded when we showered, so we couldn’t shower for more than a few minutes, and the in-room jacuzzi took over 45 minutes to fill with lukewarm water. The smart TV was unusable because the internet was extremely slow. We also had to go all the way to reception to pay for room service because the payment terminal wasn’t working. I don’t recommend this hotel.

Chill place, good location, and the rooms are clean and a good size.

The area felt reassuringly safe, and it’s convenient to be near a shopping center. We also enjoyed the hotel restaurant and its food. I spent my childhood in this area, so that sense of safety means a lot to me. The staff were always friendly and available, and made us feel welcome with quality service. We enjoyed the heated pool, gym, and beautiful gardens. The modern rooms were impeccably clean and had all the essentials. More parking spaces would help, and I’d suggest adding a guest laundry room. We really appreciated our delightful stay, and this will undoubtedly be our preferred place for future visits to Guadalajara. Thank you!

Breakfast wasn’t included in the room price. There’s both an à la carte menu and a buffet, but the à la carte food is only available through room service. We only found out after sitting down and trying to order, and there’s no table in the room, so apparently you’re meant to eat on someone’s bed. The restaurant manager wasn’t friendly or helpful, though the waitress was wonderful. We had three rooms reserved under my name for a family stay August 11-13, 2023. We arrived at 3:40pm, after the 3pm check-in time, and one room still wasn’t ready. We got no compensation, even though the hotel charged guests who checked out late an extra half day. The manager kept saying, “I completely understand,” but wouldn’t listen to us. Our rooms were scattered around the complex, and the front desk gave us no map or directions. A very helpful bellhop pointed us to buildings 1, 3, and 4. The room had more problems. The air conditioning didn’t work until the same nice gentleman who helped us find our rooms fixed it. The refrigerator was so noisy I had to switch it off to sleep. The pillows felt like bags of cement, and the sheets were so rough that I woke up with a skinned elbow. Try a little fabric softener! This hotel could be much better if management and front desk staff had better people skills. Something like, “I’m sorry, sir, your room will be ready in 10 minutes. Would you like a complimentary cup of coffee in the restaurant while we prepare it?” would have made our arrival easier. And please change those hard pillows and use some Suavitel when washing the sheets!
