Hotel Zihua Caracol

We stayed in room #205 in Feb 2025 on our first visit to Zihua. The location, pool, and breakfast were wonderful, and the staff and maid service were fine. The shower worked, but neither the bathroom sink nor the kitchen sink had hot water. They said a pipe was clogged, yet wouldn’t offer anything for the inconvenience, which didn’t seem right to me. There’s a rooftop restaurant, though we didn’t try it since there are so many places to eat a short walk away. You’ve been warned.

We were in room 205 from March 18th thru March 20th, and stayed 10 days. The room was just okay. My husband and I had two very hard, uncomfortable beds. We only got one towel each, and I never got the extra one I asked for to dry my hair, so I had to buy one at the store. I wish they’d put a microwave and fridge in the room; they don’t cost much, and I think the hotel can afford them. Making guests happy might bring them back. The pool was lovely and the Buffett was nice. Thanks to Petra for cleaning our room.

Breakfast was plentiful and the rooms were clean, but customer service was poor. If you run into an issue, you’re expected to sort it out yourself. We had no towels and were told to wait two hours, so bringing your own may be the better plan. The hotel caters to large Mexican families, and noisy neighbors can be a problem. There are better choices right around the corner.

The room decor could use an update, but the room itself was spacious and clean. We stayed just one night, and the hotel met our expectations: a relaxing pool, a handy location, tasty free breakfast, and staff who were friendly and helpful. Good value for the price.
