La Casa Que Canta

The pool is tucked into a spot with a wonderfully clear ocean view, and it feels so peaceful there. From the hotel, set high above town, you can look across the beaches, see boats and lights, and watch the sun sink behind the hills into the Pacific. The architecture and colors are gorgeous, and the rooms have these carefully chosen details and engravings that made me feel like I was in heaven. I travel a lot and live in Los Angeles, and this place surpassed every hotel I’ve visited. The staff were the kindest, most respectful and caring people I’ve met. They know the town and the hotel so well, and take time to make sure you’re comfortable. They felt like family and made the stay one of a kind. Many have worked there for 30 years, and you can tell they love what they do. Truly a magical place.

The restaurant food was expensive, and it made us sick. We were also quoted $130 per night to add one guest, even though this isn’t an all-inclusive property. The airport taxi costs $65, but it’s an ordinary city cab, about 160% more than booking directly. We were disappointed that the massage therapist wasn’t available during our stay. The views at La Casa Que Canta were breathtaking, and most of the staff were friendly. Still, the experience didn’t come close to what I’d expect from a five-star or Michelin-star property. They wouldn’t accommodate my request to change the dates and sent me back to the booking site. The property manager was unwelcoming right from the start. For somewhere advertised as five-star and Michelin-worthy, there was a lot left to be desired. I can’t say I’ll return.

We had a great time eating at the hotel restaurant on two of the nights we stayed. The service throughout was excellent, and Laura at the front desk, along with Tony and Pavel in the restaurant, made the visit especially memorable. Our room had a plunge pool, which was perfect in the heat and humidity, plus plenty of room to unwind. It’s a phenomenal hotel in a wonderful location, and the rate was reasonable. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend it!

Zihuatanejo felt like a hidden gem, and I’m still amazed by how beautiful it is. La Casa Que Canta is gorgeous too, with breathtaking views and clean, comfortable rooms full of charm. The staff were so kind and attentive, going above and beyond throughout our stay. We loved being here. It has to be the nicest hotel in Zihuatanejo, and one of the best in Mexico.
