Cocos Hotel

The receptionist was very helpful and booked our onward taxi. The room was bare but clean, with basic facilities and a firm bed, which I liked. We had no hot water for the first three nights, but reception fixed it as soon as I mentioned it. There were lots of rules to read and sign at check-in, which felt a bit peculiar, like being at school. The hotel is very close to Playa Amor, the unofficial gay beach. In our experience, that beach is more of an evening place for sunset. During the day there’s more of a gay vibe at the far end of the beach in front of El Alquimiste. The hotel is good, but when we return to Zipolite we’d stay somewhere more central. This beach was away from all the action.

The rooms are nicely decorated, but don’t book a double room here if you need to sleep. Loud music goes on until 2-3am.

We stayed the second weekend in May, and the quiet location made for a good night’s sleep. The room opened onto a private balcony through sliding doors. The design was stunning, there were no mosquitoes, the A/C was ice cold, and the bed was firm and comfortable. We spent our days at the nude beach, just a three-minute walk along a private path, then cooled off in the hotel pool after the sun. The employees were lovely and accommodating. We’ll book here again next time we’re in Zipolite.

Beautiful hotel and rooms, with friendly staff. Fabulous stay, would recommend it 100%. A safe would be nice to have.
