The sunsets from Hostal AleJo Monte Mar were mesmerizing, and the views over the village and pristine Zipolite beaches were amazing. This place is high up in the hills, with plenty of space, a peaceful feel, and a nice layout. I've stayed here more than once, and each time really was an experience. The owner-operators were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They made us feel like family right away, and both speak English well. If you're after a big, crowded all-inclusive with glitz and glamor, and don't mind the expense, Huatulco may suit you better. For that welcoming, laid-back feeling of Old Mexico, Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico hits the spot, and Hostal Alejo Monte Mar is somewhere I'd happily return to again and again.

Alejandra's cooking is out of this world. Try her breakfasts, burritos, or anything else she makes with such skill. The house has a wonderful view, and the palapas are really comfortable. Best of all, the owners are so warm and welcoming. A fantastic place, highly recommend it, and I'll definitely be back.

You can enjoy both sunrise and sunset here, and staying over feels safe. The view is spectacular, the owner is friendly, and there's good food, cold beer, red wine, and delicious coffee.

What I'll carry with me are the lasting moments with my friends Alejandra and Jorge, not just memories of a place. The view was wonderful, and their hospitality was top-notch.
