Villa del Mar

We booked three nights through Booking.com, but didn’t get the room category we’d reserved. The upper-floor rooms described as “Deluxe rooms” have balconies, while first-floor rooms are also sold as deluxe despite lacking advertised features like a private entrance, safe deposit box, and balcony. The doors in our room were defective and couldn’t be locked, so anyone could enter from outside. Some homeless people were sleeping outside the open door. We felt unsafe leaving our valuables there while we went to the beach. The hotel refused to switch our room even though we’d booked one with a balcony and the place was mostly empty. They also wouldn’t offer a solution through the booking complaint. I can’t really recommend staying here.

It was loud and noisy. Guests played music at full volume all day, dogs barked through the night, and birds tapped at the windows at sunrise. There was no hot water, though apparently the website says that. I’ll look more carefully next time. The sheets were old and thin, there was no hand soap or bed blanket, and the provided coffee was weak and watered down. When I misplaced a shirt, the clerk didn’t help locate it. Guests shouldn’t have to search through a back room for something they left behind.

The staff were the nicest, and the room was clean with good A / C. It’s a very nice place, with a perfect little pool and a good location, just a short walk from both town center and the beach. Loved it, and can’t wait to return!

It was nice enough to sleep in, with comfy beds, but that was about all the room offered. There was barely any furniture, and what was there wasn’t functional. There were no closets, so our things ended up on the floor. The bathroom felt unfinished, with no shower curtain or surfaces for toiletries. Cleaning happened on only one of the three days we stayed. The mirrored windows confused birds, which slammed into them during the day. A decent place to sleep, but little else.
