I stayed for three days and two nights, and really regret booking this place. The room photos looked nice and the reviews were good when I searched last week, but the room we got was completely different. It felt like I’d been cheated. The TV remote was dirty, the toilet was hard to flush, and although the shower was fine, my child spotted a small cockroach and a spider. There were bugs on the bed too. Since my child has sensitive skin, I asked to move to a cleaner room. The new one was a little better, but the bed still wasn’t acceptable, with dust on the pillow and mattress. The cleaner only changes the bed cover and doesn’t vacuum the bed. They said they never use a vacuum. I was so disappointed with this trip. We’ll never book here again. It should be called a hostel.

Good value for the money, and breakfast was included. The room was clean and well equipped, though small. The beds and pillows were a bit hard, and the soundproofing wasn’t great: we could still hear kids running in the corridor at 10pm. Parking is limited and first come, first served, but there’s also public parking behind the hotel.

We picked this place mainly because it’s about five minutes from Penang Hill. We kept our expectations modest after reading the reviews. The room was tiny, with basic toiletries, and parking was limited. I think there were only six spaces for hotel guests. Breakfast was included, so we asked the owner about halal options. She was happy to help and said they usually buy nasi lemak or roti canai from a nearby Malay stall for Malay guests. Thanks for thinking of that, madam. After breakfast we checked out and headed to Penang Hill. Penang, here we come!

The hosts, two ladies, were very friendly and accommodating. There’s a small cafe downstairs, and shops and food stalls are within a 5-15 minute walk. ATMs are about five minutes away. Parking may be tight, though there’s public parking nearby. The room and bathroom were sparse but clean, a bit like a small Japanese hotel. It isn’t a five-star place, but it’s still pleasant and exceptional value for money.
