The room was small, though very clean, and had useful touches like an essential oil diffuser, fridge, and bedside lamp. We paid around RM400 for two days, so the overall feel was that the price went toward the look and cleanliness more than a restful stay. There was a lot of noise, from staff chatting and waking me from a nap to traffic and karaoke at a restaurant at night. The pool was dirty as well. It was fine if you can put up with the noise, but don't expect a peaceful night.

For a short visit to Alor Setar, this worked well. The renovated old storehouse is in a handy location, and the room itself was spacious, clean, and nice. Ours was right above reception, where people watching videos in the entrance area could be heard. There was road noise too, and the AC installation on the balcony added heat and sound.

There are plenty of good cafes and places to eat within walking distance, and the location was great. We stayed at 39PC for two nights, and the room and the rest of the hotel were sparkling clean. Every staff member was attentive and gave great service. If you're in Alor Star, this is a must stay.

The location was superb, with everything within 7 km, and the staff were so friendly they even offered to show us around the nearby shops. Inside, the room felt more like a 4-star hotel, with a comfortable bed and a modern-looking toilet. Its door was a curtain, which may have been part of the modern design. The old Chinese medicine shop look outside caught me by surprise, while the lobby seemed to keep that rustic style on purpose. I was with my mother, and no elevator made things a bit inconvenient for her. The cafe/bar outside was noisy, too, so it may not suit someone looking for quiet. For couples or friends, I'd recommend it.
