Fuller Hotel

A very soft bed and a welcome drink were nice touches, and the staff were great. The room was clean, with an iron and a TV, though it isn’t a smart TV. They also offer luggage storage. For drinking water, there’s a purifier outside the room where you can refill your pitcher. The location is very convenient, within walking distance of malls, lots of food choices, and a nearby supermarket.

The small library corner in the lobby was a nice touch. I borrowed a book and returned it at checkout. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, especially Izzwani, whose warm welcome made a difference. The location was the main reason my wife and I chose Fuller Hotel when we came to Alor Setar to see a friend. It’s close to Aman Sentral, the only decent shopping mall in the area, and the city center rate was reasonable. The lobby looked fine, though it was crowded around the 3.00 pm check-in time. They served us a welcome drink after the journey. Our room was generally okay and met basic expectations, but the bathroom was disappointing and needed a more thorough scrub. There seemed to be algae on the wall. We only spotted it after unpacking, and by then we felt too lazy to ask for another room. We also worried other rooms might have similar bathroom conditions. The stay was pleasant and comfortable enough, and the location and staff are real strengths. I’d have a better impression if the bathroom cleanliness were improved.

It’s a no-frills hotel, so expect very little in the room. The Wi-Fi was patchy, there were no air-con controls and it was too warm for me, and the towels were threadbare. On the plus side, the location is great, the staff are very friendly, and covered parking is free. There’s a RM50 deposit in cash, in case you decide to “take the pillows”.

The Premier room had two beds and good natural light from the window. It was clean and had the basic amenities, with enough space that it wasn’t cramped, though you’d want to be quite familiar with your roommate. There are plenty of power sockets, but they’re across the room by the TV, which isn’t ideal. The open closet saves space, though I couldn’t work out how to remove the hangers behind the mirror. The hotel is mostly quiet, but sound carries from the corridor and neighboring rooms, including occasional alarm clocks. I hope we weren’t too noisy with our own alarms 😂🙏 The streets aren’t especially pedestrian-friendly, but many places are just minutes away on foot. Aman Central mall is a short walk, and there are lots of restaurants and hawker spots nearby. Check their hours first, since many close early or open late. When I visited, there were also three restaurants in the same building. Staff were helpful and friendly when approached. There’s free Wi-Fi, and while rooms don’t have bottled water, each floor has a convenient water station in the hall. Basement parking fees are waived for guests, but the elevator doesn’t go down there, so you may want to leave your bags at the lobby before parking.
