The rooms and facilities are in really bad shape. I had to ask for another room after the power in mine went out several times, and the TV didn't work properly either. Breakfast was very basic with few choices. Then there was a major outage early in the morning that affected the front office, kitchen, and many rooms. The price isn't cheap, so it definitely didn't feel worth it. Some people say they won't return.
I've stayed here twice and would come back. The beach looks out toward the islands, and it's calm and safe for kids to play. The surroundings are peaceful, the rooms are large and clean, and the staff are friendly. At RM175-200 per room, you get a simple but good breakfast, plus a pool that works for children and parents. Good value for the money.
We booked seven pool-view rooms for my family, and they were all quite far from the beach, maybe a 300-meter walk. The parking was also far from the rooms, so carrying all our things over was a hassle 😕. If you're coming with children, it's better to bring extra mattresses 🫶🏻.
A blackout, a TV that doesn't work, and a water heater that stays boiling hot. The place is horribly maintained and not worth the money.
The beach and view are the main things going for Sudara Beach Resort. I rated the view 4.5/5, the rooms 2.9/5, cleanliness 3.1/5, and safety 2/5. I didn't try the food. Permai Beach Resort has better rooms, a better kept pool, and more up-to-date equipment, so that's what I'd recommend. Maintenance and safety around the resort are a real concern. Many air conditioner condensers are rusty or not working, and some are broken. I saw one with its fan exposed, which could be dangerous for children. There's also an uncovered well near the chalets that a child could fall into. The pool looked green and had little leaves and branches in it. When I called room service several times to order food and drinks, nobody answered. My room floor was dusty, and after lying in bed I noticed bites on my leg that could have been bed bug bites. The floor wasn't clean, either. While I was on the balcony, my father found a rusty leaking pipe under our chalet. There was a lot of litter around the resort, especially on the beach. They should update the room appliances, pool equipment, and air conditioner condensers, and clean up the resort. I think doing that could bring the rating up to 3/5 or 4/5. If they keep ignoring tenants' complaints, I hope they don't have a nice day and get diarrhea when they least expect it! Cheers, A Tenant.
