Early in the morning, hours before check-out, someone unlocked our door and opened it while we were asleep. We shouted right away, and the person quickly shut it. That was a frightening breach of our privacy and personal safety. A locked room is a basic expectation for paying guests. We went to reception, but the desk was deserted. When the owner eventually appeared and confirmed he was the owner, his response to our complaint was shocking. He brushed it off as an accidental opening caused by miscommunication among staff, which made it sound like this might happen regularly. He then impatiently challenged us: “So what do you want? Do you want to lodge a police report? Do you want to write bad review? Just go ahead!” When we asked who had opened the door and why, he became visibly agitated, his body was shaking, and argued with us in a provocative, aggressive manner. I wasn’t asking for compensation. I wanted an investigation and a promise it wouldn’t happen to another guest. Instead, I got hostility, disrespect, and no accountability. The owner’s reaction to such a serious security incident suggests guest safety and privacy aren’t priorities. A hotel that can’t keep a door locked while guests are asleep isn’t fit to operate. Don’t stay here if you value your security and expect respectful service. One star out of five, only because zero wasn’t an option.
